Listen Links With Verizon

Listen.com will announce today that it has entered into a distribution deal for its Rhapsody subscription service with the Internet arm of Verizon. The telecommunications giant's Verizon Online DSL will offer its customers access to the on-demand streaming service via a new entertainment channel, DSL

Live (dsllive.verizon.net).

As an introductory offer, Verizon Online is giving a free month of Rhapsody to customers who sign up by Oct. 31. Verizon has more than 1.5 million DSL lines in 27 states and the District of Columbia.

The deal marks the latest broadband distribution alliance for San Francisco-based Listen, which has other agreements for Rhapsody with high-speed Internet service providers Charter Communications, DirecTV Broadband, and Time Warner Cable's Road Runner. Listen has content deals with all five major labels and about 75 independents. The Rhapsody service's catalog features more than 230,000 tracks.
