The U.K.-based Beggars Group has finalized its 50% acquisition of New York-based Matador Records (Bulletin, Aug. 2). Terms of the deal were not disclosed. All Matador releases will now be marketed via the Beggars Group worldwide. In addition to ongoing distribution through Alternative Distribution Alliance,

Matador will maintain its direct sales activities with mom-and-pop accounts, with the intention of also making Beggars Group releases available through that channel.

CEO Lesley Bleakley will remain in place as head of Beggars' stateside operations; Matador will continue to be headed by co-founders Chris Lombardi, who is based in New York, and Gerard Cosloy, in London.
