Drifting Cowboy "Lum" York Dead at 85

William Herbert "Lum" York, former bass player and comedian with Hank Williams' Drifting Cowboy band, died Sunday (Aug. 15) in Baton Rouge, La. He was 85.

York toured with Williams from 1944 to 1949 and later played with Lefty Frizzell, George Morgan, Marty Robbins

and others.

York is credited with being the only person to have performed with four members of the Williams family: Hank, Hank Jr., Hank III and Hank's daughter Jett.
