Ashanti Tops May Certifications From RIAA
Ashanti's self-titled album (Murder Inc./Def Jam) continues its success, earning a double-platinum award for U.S. shipments of 2 million units in May certifications from the RIAA. In a big month for Murder Inc., the label also saw its soundtrack "The Fast and the Furious" reach platinum status.
Other newcomers making an impact in May were Josh Groban, whose self-titled 143/Reprise debut went platinum just one month after its gold certification, and Norah Jones, who earned her first gold album for "Come Away With Me" (Blue Note).
