Santa Monica, Calif.-based Atari has teamed with Epic Records to create the soundtrack for "DRIV3R," the third installment in the "Driver" videogame franchise.

The stand-alone soundtrack is scheduled for a U.S. release June 21, in conjunction with the launch of the DRIV3R videogame on the Xbox video game system from Microsoft and PlayStation2.

"DRIV3R" has 14 tracks from Iggy Pop, Phantom Planet, Hope Of The States, Syntax and others. The project will include a 12-minute "Making of DRIV3R" documentary narrated by actor Michael Madsen, who voices the game's lead character, Tanner. Each CD will also contain n-CD technology granting exclusive access to a special Web site with "cheats" for the game, a special deleted scene and competitions.

The project is the latest in a trend of stand-alone videogame soundtracks that started with Redwood City, Calif.-based Electronic Arts' "NBA Live 2003," which was certified platinum by the RIAA.
