Warner Bros. Records Inc. president Phil Quartararo is exiting the company, a spokesperson confirms. Word of Quartararo's departure surfaced internally Wednesday; he had reportedly not been seen at the company's Burbank, Calif., offices for several weeks. There was no immediate word about whether he

would be replaced, though several sources believe such a move is doubtful. While sources also say it is possible that Quartararo, who is well-liked by senior executives, could remain at AOL Time Warner, no definite word has emerged about his future.

Quartararo, a 20-year promotion veteran, arrived at Warner Bros. in November 1997 after serving as president/CEO of Virgin.
