BMI has finalized licensing agreements giving public-performance rights to its repertoire to local-broadcast television stations. The stations had been paying BMI an interim fee while awaiting the final agreements. The licenses--which run from April 1999 to December 2004--were negotiated with the Television

Music License Committee (TMLC), which represents more than 1,000 stations. Under the deals, stations that are licensed on a blanket basis will pay their allocated share of an $85 million annual base fee; stations may also choose a per-program license.

The licensing agreements mirror similiar deals between ASCAP and the TMLC.
