Console manufacturer Solid State Logic (SSL) is to announce a distribution arrangement with Guitar Center and its professional audio division, GC Pro, to launch the SSL AWS 900 Analogue Workstation System.

The AWS 900, the first SSL product designed as a digital audio

workstation (DAW) controller, will be introduced at the National Assn. of Broadcasters spring convention, to be held April 19-22 in Las Vegas (Billboard, April 24). SSL's distribution arrangement with Guitar Center and GC Pro will also be announced at the confab.

SSL will also sell the AWS 900 directly to its core client base and broadcast clientele. SSL and Guitar Center will jointly offer product training, system consulting and installation services.

In 2003, SSL introduced its XLogic line of rackmounted outboard signal processing equipment developed from the manufacturer's XL 9000 K Series large-format console. That product line, which includes the XLogic Channel -- essentially a single channel strip from the K Series console -- sought to address the emerging dominance of DAWs in professional recording.
