Digital-watermarking firm Verance has secured $13 million in new financing, mostly from existing investors led by venture-capital firm Constellation Ventures and MMC Capital. The funds will be used in part to pursue international business. Verance currently has a partnership with Japan's Video Research.

San Diego-based Verance--which recently named Constellation Ventures senior executive Clifford Friedman as chairman (Bulletin, Feb. 13)--has raised about $36 million since last year. A spokesperson declined to comment on whether the company would seek additional funds in the near future.
