Paul McCartney confirmed speculation that he is planning a North American tour in an interview Sunday night during halftime at Super Bowl XXXVI; an official announcement of the outing was made yesterday. The "Drivin' U.S.A." arena tour will begin in April in California and will encompass at least 15

dates, including one in Canada. Sources say Clear Channel Entertainment is in talks to produce. McCartney will play European dates in May.

McCartney last toured in 1993, when his "New World" stadium outing grossed $35 million from 30 shows. Tickets then were priced at $16.50-$32.50 in most markets; they will likely be three times as much this time around.
