Virgin France Plans Music Download Site
London-based digital service provider Tornado Group plc has inked a deal to provide technical infrastructure to Virgin Megastore France, enabling the retailer to sell downloads via its Web site.
The download site, due to launch this spring at www.virginmega.fr, will offer pay-per-download or monthly subscription services. The agreement is expected to expand to include games downloads during 2002.
Tornado will receive revenues from individual downloads and will obtain a fee for delivery of the content on the subscription service. The agreement follows a non-exclusive digital delivery partnership struck last year between Tornado and Virgin Entertainment Group's (VEG) v.shop chain (Bulletin, July 19, 2001).
