Young Flamingo exits

HarperCollins Children's Books is to lose its two children's imprints. Young Flamingo, for young adults, and fantasy imprint Collins Voyager will be absorbed back into the main children's books list. The move, which is "imminent", is part of HC's global strategy to simplify its brands.

Young Flamingo was launched in May 2001 to provide a home for young adult titles and to capitalise on the Flamingo name. Authors on the list include Joyce Carol Oates and Margaret Mahy. Those on the Collins Voyager fantasy list include Diana Wynne-Jones and Alan Garner.

HarperCollins has already announced the closure of its Flamingo adult literary imprint.
