French rebel against EC on book adverts

Since 1st January, French publishers have been allowed to advertise on cable and satellite TV--but not terrestrial channels--although few have done so. Those to take up the chance include Flammarion and Michel Lafon. The French government’s concern is that small publishers do not have the resources to

pay TV advertising rates. If it fails to adopt the new rules, the case could go to the European Court of Justice, and take years to be resolved.
