Macmillan prize for illustration
Candice Whatmore, a student at the University of Central England, has won the 1999 Macmillan Prize for Children's Picture Book Illustration. Second prize went to Joseph Theobald of Falmouth College of Arts, with Gro Nilsen of Chelsea College of Art & Design taking third prize.
The award is designed to help young illustrators start their professional careers. Past winners have included Lucy Cousins and Elizabeth Harbour.
