Reader's Digest goes direct with Disney

Reader's Digest is to sell its first titles directly into the trade, with the launch of a new series for Disney. The company, better known in the children's market as a packager of "book plus" products, has previously packaged novelty books for Disney.

is a new format that projects images from the story on to a wall as the child reads. The first title in the range is called The Disney Princess Movie Theatre Book, and it has already sold more than 350,000 units worldwide. More titles in the Movie Theatre range, including The Disney Animal Friends Movie Theatre Book, will be launched in the summer.

The titles will initially be available through outlets supplied by AMS, including Mothercare, WHS and the Disney Store.
