The London International Book Fair has announced a number of incentives, including book tokens and gifts, aimed at attracting more UK booksellers to the event.
Every bookseller who registers for the fair, due to be held at Olympia in London from 28th to 30th March,
will receive a book token—for a free book of their choice—and a "chequebook", which can be exchanged for gifts and offers from exhibitors. These will be included in the Bookseller Welcome Pack introduced last year.
For those still thirsty after the Book Fair Beer Bash on the opening night, The Bookseller's louche gossip columnist, Horace Bent, will be hosting Bent's Bar, a Fuller's pub open on the gallery throughout the LIBF.
On a more serious note, there will be seminars covering such issues as independent bookselling and online bookselling, as well as a workshop on Practical Marketing Ideas for Independent Booksellers.
Although 1,724 booksellers attended the fair last year, a substantial increase on previous years, many felt that the turnout was still low and could be improved.
