Julie Purvis, currently deputy manager at Dillons in Newcastle, has been appointed manager of the shop recently acquired by Blackwells. Joan Smart, manager at the York, Stonegate shop and currently seconded to the York University
bookshop, has been appointed permanently to the post of manager with immediate effect. Glyn Littlewood, previously deputy manager at the Sheffield Mappin Street bookshop, has been appointed manager of the shop with immediate effect. Allyn King, who previously worked in Blackwells' Cardiff Royal Arcade bookshop, has been promoted to manager of the Blackwells Southampton Institute bookshop with immediate effect. Gill Elliott, seconded to manage the Blackwells bookshop at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston, has been appointed manager of the shop with immediate effect. Caroline Edwards, recently seconded from Oxford to manage the Blackwells University of the West of England bookshop, has been appointed manager of Sheffield Hallam University bookshop with effect from early 1999.
Barefoot Books has appointed Andrew Cope, formerly key accounts sales manager for Random House Children's Books, head of sales (UK and export markets).
