Noddy backed by £1m ads

A new generation of Noddy television programming is to begin on Channel 5 next month, backed by a multimedia marketing campaign worth more than £1m.

HarperCollins is developing a range of Noddy TV tie-in books, also due out in September, alongside a range of merchandise

lines.

Chorion, which owns the rights to Noddy and which produced the £10m computer-generated TV series, "Make Way for Noddy", is underlining its commitment to the Toyland character with a generic Noddy national and trade press advertising campaign this autumn.

The marketing outlay will be spread across national TV advertisements, a national outdoor poster campaign in January, consumer and trade press advertising, character appearances, in-store promotions and on-air trailers.
