Simon & Schuster has stepped up its international publishing and sales efforts, with new appointments and promotions across the group. The company plans to boost sales in the international marketplace through stronger co-ordination between its international sales division, based in New York, and
the publishing and distribution operation of S&S UK.
Jonathan Atkins, formerly S&S UK group product director, has been appointed to the newly created position of publisher, international division. The international division incorporates S&S' international list, including titles from S&S US and Australia, the Star Trek and Buffy the Vampire Slayer lines and the audio list. Mr Atkins is to head the division, taking responsibility for S&S' international sales budget and for driving inter-company sales. He was instrumental in introducing the S&S business books list, Free Press, to the UK market last year.
Rumana Haider has been promoted to international product manager, working with Sally Partington, who retains responsibility for the Star Trek and Buffy the Vampire Slayer imprints. An international sales manager is to be appointed.
In New York, Cyrus Kheradi, head of the international sales division, will take on the additional role of international division group sales director, overseeing export and inter-company sales.
