A British Council exhibition of children's books in Ramallah, East Jerusalem (West Bank and Gaza) has been hailed by participants as a resounding success.
Four hundred titles from UK publishers were on display at the exhibition, designed to promote ideas of cultural
diversity to children.
After the event at the Ramallah Information Centre, the Palestinian ministries of education and culture agreed to fund the translation of two titles, covering gender and disability, and to buy 10,000 copies for use in Palestinian schools. Other titles were snapped up by the Palestinian curriculum development centre, United Nations Relief and Works Agency and local TV companies.
