SNE to sue Google France

By Barbara Casassus
Publication: Bookseller
Date: Thursday, June 22 2006
In a communiqué released last week, the Syndicat National de l’Édition said that it was following the example of the Association of American Publishers and Germany’s Borsenverein to try to force Google to "halt its illicit practices and repair the damage to the whole of the profession".

The SNE has been split by differences over the issue and had been criticised for failing to respond to Google’s opt-out policy in digitising backlists. The first French publisher to sue Google was La Martiniére (see The Bookseller, 9th June).
