The Stationery Office has fought off stiff competition to retain its lucrative government contracts. It will continue to print, publish and distribute all reports laid before Parliament.
The latest successful bid for Command Papers—reports laid before Parliament—has
brought the total value of contracts retendered and won by TSO to £200m over five years. Since privatisation in 1996, TSO has retained contracts for House of Commons and House of Lords publishing, as well as legislation contracts across the UK. Fred Perkins, TSO chief operating officer, said: "We have worked hard to improve our services and have developed new business in the UK and overseas." Plans for a flotation, which was initially slated for this year, are believed to have been shelved due to the current lack of confidence in the economy.
This week TSO signed a partnership deal with professional support services company Capita Group to create an online support service for education professionals.
