Icelander Indridason scoops Gold dagger
Also honoured at the CWA event was John le Carre, who won the first ever Dagger of Daggers prize for his 1963 novel The Spy Who Came in From the Cold. Jake Arnott picked up the CWA Dagger in the Library--an award judged entirely by librarians--for his body of work. He paid tribute to librarians in his
speech stating that we should "defend them to the death" and gave a special mention to prison libraries.
Triumph also came for small publisher Maia Press, based in London borough Hackney. Its book Running Hot by Dreda Say Mitchell was awarded the CWA John Creasey Memorial Dagger for previously unpublished writers. Prizes for non-fiction, short story writing and unpublished writers were also announced.
