Waterstone’s first to Thanet

By Fiona Fraser
Publication: Bookseller
Date: Tuesday, March 22 2005
Thanet has been considered unattractive to major retail developers because of its relative isolation and limited catchment area. Bookselling chains have concentrated their efforts on larger centres such as Canterbury; Ottakar’s opened a 12,000 sq ft store in Canterbury’s redeveloped Whitefriars Centre

last autumn.

Waterstone’s operations director Nick Williams said: "There is a lot of potential for us in this area, and I think our commitment to range, recommendation and bookseller expertise will be well received by book lovers in Thanet and the surrounding area."
