Waterstone’s steps up expansion
A new Stevenage branch will trade from 3,100 sq ft, competing with an Ottakar’s and a branch of W H Smith. A second store will open in Newry, County Down in Northern Ireland, trading from 2,900 sq ft. Both branches have town centre locations and are set to open before the end of November. Eason &
Son dominates the Irish market, and has a branch in Newry.
David Gilbert, Waterstone’s m.d., said: “Both branches are in new markets for us and I believe that our commitment to range, recommendation and bookseller expertise will be well received by book lovers in both these towns.”
