Hachette announced the merger of its children’s publishing operations earlier this year, following a six-month review of its UK businesses including
Orion, Hodder Headline and Watts. Orion’s children’s arm is to remain separate.
Marlene Johnson, managing director of the new Hachette Children’s Books, said its increased clout would help to strengthen Orchard’s position in the trade and grow Wayland and Franklin Watts’ share of the libraries market.
Watts Group staff will move to Hodder Headline’s headquarters in Euston Road, central London, over the coming summer.
