Corfield quits Selfridges

By Joel Rickett
Publication: Bookseller
Date: Tuesday, June 22 2004
Corfield has been at the department store group for seven years, relaunching the book department in Oxford Street in 2000, and overseeing the book and music elements of the new Manchester and Birmingham stores. He also worked on Selfridges’ special themed projects including Tokyo Life, Bollywood, Body Craze and Brasil.

Corfield plans to set up his own retail business next year, which is likely to involve books among other products. He will also look to take on freelance consultancy work in the publishing, fashion and design industries.

Kate Gunning, a former manager of Waterstone’s High Street Kensington who has been at Selfridges for two years, will act as books buying manager.
