Playing The Game: Surf Expo has expanded beyond its roots as an East Coast surf show to incorporate elements of the outdoor and action sports

industries. It grew to 2,100 booths in 2002, up from 1,850 in 2000. The September show features wakeboard, water ski and windsurf sections. Surf Expo draws buyers from surf and skate shops as well as specialty, department, and sporting good stores from the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean.

Bonus Points: The show offers free seminars including a New Buyer Primer, a Premiere Buyer Club lounge for buyers from regularly attending stores, and travel incentive packages available for first-time VIP buyers.

Extra Turn: Surf Expo has a vert ramp and street course for skate demos, several professionally executed fashion shows, and a paddlesports demo pool. The show is also host to East Coast Surf Legends Hall of Fame induction ceremonies and WSIA Dealer of the Year awards ceremonies.

Go Back One Space: Mix of exhibits can give the show an "all over the place" feeling, but that's what most of these stores look like, too.
