World Titanium Council Formed

With escalating demand and the many new introductions in titanium consumer products, the birth of an organization dedicated to the development, promotion and evolution of this market was inevitable. The World Titanium Council was conceived as a forum to provide information, knowledge and experience throughout

the industry. It will serve as the hub where ongoing applications and advancements in titanium are continually discussed and shared amongst its diverse membership.

Ed Rosenberg, president and founder of Spectore Titanium, spearheaded the drive to build such an organization. He announced that the World Titanium Council intends to maintain a close relationship with the International Titanium Association, which has been providing technical support and information to the larger scale titanium industries for years. This close relationship will provide many extended benefits for both memberships. Rosenberg, who was instrumental in bringing consumer products titanium from its early infancy to where it is today, has been a long-standing member of ITA and has long recognized a need for a more defined organization dedicated specifically to consumer products.

Along with Rosenberg, who will serve as CEO, WTC will include a virtual who's who among their inaugural Board of Directors. Respected leaders and top experts from a diversity of markets will represent worldwide industry giants from the fields of jewelry, medicine, sporting goods, computers, art and science.

WTC, a non-profit organization, will provide members an extensive website, quarterly newsletters, conferences and seminars, industry links, a membership directory, technical support and materials andother benefits. WTC will also provide an industry service by reviewing and qualifying titanium products before they reach the consumer marketplace. Products tested and deemed acceptable by council standards will be awarded the official Certificate of Approval. Consumers can feel assured that products labeled with such a certificate has passed stringent testing and received endorsement from an elite panel of experts in the WTC.

In November, WTC will also announce its Inaugural Design Competition, where designers and manufacturers of the jewelry and a broad variety of other consumer products industries will compete. The competition is being created to introduce more individual designers, manufacturers and design firms to the astonishing opportunities available with titanium. WTC will provide materials and resources, along with technical and design support at no cost to the entrants.

Parties interested in learning more about how to qualify for membership should contact the WTC Membership Committee at 954/421-2310, or visit the WTC website at www.worldtitaniumcouncil.org.
