Political Science

Publication: Book Standard
Date: Wednesday, March 30 2005
Simon & Schuster announced last week the launch of Threshold, an imprint for books with a conservative bent, to be headed by political consultant and former Dick Cheney advisor Mary Matalin

. The Book Standard reported yesterday that the first title, to be published in early '06, will be a memoir by Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter Mary Cheney. Right-wing titles have been performing well lately on The Book Standard's Political Science Chart, with the top spot going to conservative talk-radio host Mark R. Levin's Men in Black for the sixth consecutive week. The last left-leaning book to appear at No. 1 on the chart was George Lakoff's Don't Think of an Elephant, for the week ending Jan. 9. Newt Gingrich's Winning the Future took over the following four weeks until Levin's book moved into the top spot. Lakoff, though, continues its struggle to re-outrank Levin as it sits right now at No. 2. As for Mary Cheney, her book is the first conservative political title in recent memory to be written by an out-of-the-closet lesbian.
