Golden, Colo.--Mountain Rescue Association's annual conference in June will offer attendees a chance to train with their Chinese and Israeli counterparts.

The Negeve Highlands Search and Rescue Team from the Ramat Negev region of Israel and the Chinese Mountaineering Association will spend 10 days training with America's best mountaineers in Estes Park, Colo. Attendees will focus on the disciplines of high-angle rescue, whitewater, helicopters, search theory, river crossings and avalanche operations.

"This is a rare opportunity for our rescue teams to share in an important exchange of search and rescue techniques with elite rescue mountaineers," Rocky Henderson, president of the Mountain Rescue Association, said in a statement.

The rescue association is a volunteer organization with nearly 100 international units. It was founded in 1958 at the Timberline Lodge at Mount Hood, Ore. More than 60 of the association's units are unpaid professional mountain search and rescue teams that operate at no direct taxpayer expense.
