Salt Lake City--With its two-person Tempest, Bibler aims to take single-wall tents to a wider market.

"The Tempest is inspired by the four-season Torre, the difference being that the Tempest is a more popularly priced single-wall tent," Bibler designer Kim Miller said.

"This tent is geared more toward backpackers and hikers who crave [a lightweight tent] but don't want flimsy quality." The Tempest will carry a suggested retail price of $498.

With twin vestibules and a roomy asymmetrical dome design, the 6-pound Tempest uses a sturdy internal four-pole architecture to withstand considerable wind and snow loading. Radio frequency welded corners add strength, allowing the Tempest to live up to its four-season rating.

Like other Bibler tents, the Tempest has steep walls, a roomy interior space and excellent space-to-weight ratio. The Tempest offers 49 square feet of interior floor space.
