Chicago--Despite recent economic woes, adventure travel is still big business. Nearly 5,000 travel experts and 500 exhibitors are expected to attend Outside magazine's annual trade show for adventure travel, which will be Feb. 21-24 in Chicago. "Terror or no terror, adventure travel is poised to continue

the steady 6 percent growth the market has seen for the last three years," Outside magazine said in its December issue. "Only the destinations have changed, not the desire." The show is open to the trade only Feb. 21-22 and to the public Feb. 23-24. Seminars during the first two days include topics such as "Post-9/11 Tourism," "The Future of Eco Tourism in an Uncertain World" and online retailing. Officially known as the IATOS Expo & World Congress on Adventure and Eco Tourism, this marks the show's 12th year. IATOS is the acronym for International Adventure Travel and Outdoor Sports Show "IATOS 2002 has been designed to provide solutions for our changing world of adventure," said Paul Muir, show producer.
