Turkish jewelry exports exceed $1 billion

Ankara, Turkey—Turkey is a rising jewelry star—second only to Italy within the European Union (EU)—as the country exported $1.172 billion worth of products last year, according to a published report from Antwerp Facets Online.

The figures were quoted from the country's

National Center for Productivity (MPM), a government agency that measures productivity. The MPM also said the jewelry sector was Turkey's most productive industry based on capital efficiency. This conclusion was made by analyzing data from the last 26 years, the report stated.

Given Turkey's history of producing and crafting jewels and precious stones, and the progress it has made in the jewelry industry over the last five years, the MPM also expects the country to gain more market share within the EU.
