Latest Oakley Sunglasses Have MP3 Players

FOOTHILL RANCH, CA (BRAIN)--Oakley executives are listening to their customers, who apparently listen to a lot of MP3s. The company developed what it claims is the world's first sunglasses with a built-in MP3 player.

Called Thump, the device will be available in December. The company will sell the sunglasses through Circuit City, its O-Stores and specialty retailers.

"Thump reinvents the experience of on-the-go music," said Jim Jannard, Oakley's chairman and chief executive. "The audio circuitry is built inside the eyewear frame, which means there is nothing dangling from your body and there are no wires to get in the way."

The Thump is built around a traditional Oakley O Matter frame. It is powered by a lithium ion polymer battery and has retractable boom ear pieces. It comes in 128MB or 256MB versions, which retail for $395 and $495, respectively.
