COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (BRAIN)--USA Cycling Sports is using eBay to raise money for its under-23, track and junior-level mountain bike, road and track programs. Memorabilia donated by various professional cycling and sports figures will be at auction.
USA Cycling will
run two consecutive 10-day auctions between June 20 and July 9. The first will include 33 items and the second about 40.
Donated pieces include Lance Armstrong-autographed items including a copy of his book, It's Not About the Bike; a copy of The Sports Illustrated issue in which he is featured as Athlete of the Year; and a 2002 Tour de France Stage 11 profile card.
Among the other cycling names associated with the auction are Frankie Andreu, Chris Carmichael, Dylan Casey, Susan De Mattei, Dede Demet-Barry, Leigh Donovan, Rishi Grewal, Tyler Hamilton, Mari Holden, Genvieve Jeanson, Tinker Juarez, Greg LeMond, Chann McRae, Amber Neben, Marty Nothstein, Ned Overend, Stephen Roche, Fred Rodriguez and Diana Ziliute.
Team gear from 7-Eleven, CSC-Tiscali, Domo-Farm Frites, Prime Alliance, Saturn Cycling Team, T-Mobile the U.S. Olympic Team and U.S. Postal will also be up for bid.
Among the other items are a drawing of boxing great Muhammad Ali that is autographed by the champ, a Los Angeles Lakers jersey autographed by Shaquille O'Neal and an NFL game ball, autographed by LaDanian Tomlinson, a San Diego Chargers running back.
