In Brief Digital Receipts for Ecommerce Unveiled

Receipt.com, Mountain View, Calif., has launched what it says is the first-ever digital receipt generator for ecommerce transactions and messages. The XML-based solution issues secure electronic notarized receipts that give companies proof that an online transaction has occurred. The company says the

service "enables businesses to replace costly legal paper processes, limiting private networks, and inflexible EDI systems."

"Annual business-to-business ecommerce is predicted to grow to $1 trillion by 2003," says Receipt.com president David Jevans. "Electronic proof of transactions, document delivery and messages on the Internet will be critical for this growth to occur."
