Mapco Inks Deal with PerformanceRetail

FRANKLIN, Tenn.-- This week, Mapco Express, a 240-store chain based in Franklin, Tenn., signed a deal with PerformanceRetail, an Austin-based software developer for convenience stores, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

Mapco will use the 3-year-old

company's software to help track inventories and manage finances. PerformanceRetail raised $15 million in venture capital in order to complete the deal, according to the news source.

The company's other customer is Amerada Hess Corp., which operates 1,200 Hess Express convenience stores on the East Coast. Hess, which was one of PerformanceRetail's founders, signed a $2.8 million extension contract with PerformanceRetail in September.

PerformanceRetail's software is used both at individual stores, where it handles everyday operations such as fuel inventory and lottery ticket sales -- and at headquarters, where it can help in analyzing sales data to determine what should be stocked, what it should cost and how it should be displayed.
