Scents of Morocco

Tapestry is a themed collection from Dallas-based Er'go Candle, inspired by the vibrant sights, sounds, and smells of a bustling Moroccan market.

Each candle in the Tapestry collection is poured into a seven-ounce glass jar that has been embellished by a pattern mimicking the kilims, or hand-woven textiles, of the North African country. The line includes four fragrances: Cranberry Currant, Sage & Pine, Frankincense & Myrrh, and Neroli.

The candles are also available in two gift boxes featuring the quartet of fragrances in three-ounce glass votives. These votives are hand-poured into unembellished glass and packaged in gift boxes that echo the textile design of the larger candles. The two gift boxes share the same selection of candles and fragrances, and are available in both brown and black patterns.

Tapestry candles, made of 100 percent all-natural soy wax, will be available this fall. A seven-ounce candle burns for approximately 40 to 50 hours and has a suggested retail price of $22. The Tapestry boxed set includes four assorted three-ounce votives and retails for $25.

Calm down with lavender

Lavender Facial Cleansing gel, part of the Avalon Organics line from Avalon Natural Products of Petaluma, Calif., is made with organic lavender, licorice root, white tea, arnica, and other nonirritating ingredients. The line was developed for people with sensitive, normal to oily skin.

The product's fruit-based cleansers calm and protect irritation-prone skin, according to the company. Organic flax and borage oils replenish moisture, leaving skin lightly hydrated.

Fragrant art

Uniquely designed effusion lamps from La-Tee-Da! of Scottsville, Texas are designed to please the eye as well as the nose. They're hand-crafted glass art pieces, which, when filled with fragrant oils and lit, emit fragrances that, according to the company, can scent the average-size home in 45 minutes.

The lamps are hand-blown, with each glass shaped by mouth, and come in a variety of shapes and colors: globes, cubes, and columns in whites, greens, and blues. Large and small sizes of each model are available. Each lamp is packaged individually in a decorative box with two fragrances.
