AWG promotes loss prevention exec
Associated Wholesale Grocers, Inc. of Kansas City, Kan. has promoted Chuck Dillon to corporate executive director of risk management and loss prevention. Dillon, who started his career with AWG in 1977 in corporate advertising and
went on to serve as corporate director of loss prevention, will now be responsible for companywide risk management, including insurance, security, safety, compliance, and contingency planning.
Rainbow Foods g.m. resigns
Dale Riley has resigned from his position as v.p. and g.m. of Minnesota retail for Milwaukee-based Roundy's. He described the departure as "strictly personal," saying it was in his and his family's best interests. Riley, who previously served as c.e.o. for Kowalski's Cos., was tapped to head Roundy's Minnesota operations after the company's June 2003 purchase of 30 Rainbow Foods stores in the Minneapolis/ St. Paul area from bankrupt Fleming Cos. of Lewisville, Texas.
Roundy's chairman and c.e.o. Bob Mariano said in a statement that Riley was "instrumental in reintroducing the Rainbow banner to the Twin Cities after the Roundy's acquisition." At presstime the company expected to name a replacement shortly. V.p. Don Rosanova was serving as operational head of Rainbow in the interim. Mariano also said that the company is going forward with its local expansion plan.
Kroger appoints s.v.p.
The Kroger Co. has promoted William T. Boehm to s.v.p. and president of manufacturing. He succeeds Geoffrey J. Covert, s.v.p., who is on special assignment in retail operations and remains an officer of the company. Boehm previously served as group v.p. of logistics. Kevin M. Dougherty, formerly v.p. of supply chain operations, will serve in Boehm's previous role, which makes Dougherty responsible for Kroger's nationwide logistics network and supply chain operations.
