Fujitsu integration offers mobility
Dallas-based Fujitsu Transactions Solutions, Inc. has integrated two of its products to allow retailers to wirelessly bring data from its traditional location in the back room to anywhere it's needed.
The TeamPad 7500, Fujitsu's handheld wireless data tablet, can now link with the company's ISS45 POS software, enabling retailers to manage their stores from any work point.
The company says the combination can perform a number of functions, including item maintenance, shelf verification, cashier monitoring, sales analysis, and several others.
BioPay upgrades fingerprint verifier
BioPay says it's offering retailers a chance to detect customers with negative check histories in real time and head off fraud before it occurs.
The Herndon, Va. provider of biometric identification systems says its fingerprint-based BioPay 5.0 will be available at the end of this quarter. The product electronically captures an enrolled customer's fingerprint, stores the image, and records check transactions associated with the customer. The data can be shared among stores of the same chain and accessed in real time with a high-speed Internet connection to verify a customer's check transaction history on the spot.
BioPay says the initial enrollment process takes about two minutes of a customer's time at the store and it is not necessary for customers to re-enroll when they visit an affiliated store.
MicroStrategy aims to drive efficiency
MicroStrategy, Inc. says the recently released new version of its business intelligence platform, MicroStrategy 7i, is designed to help retailers drive efficiency enterprise-wide and boost margins through improved inventory management, customer analysis, and marketing campaigns.
The new software enables retailers to analyze their business from the POS back up the supply chain from a single integrated environment, according to the McLean, Va.-based company. It offers Windows-like functionality over the Web, zero-footprint client, and pure-HTML interfaces for easy deployment of extranet applications, MicroStrategy says.
