Retailers can print plastic cards on demand with the new Eltron P200 Series of plastic card printers, introduced by Zebra Technologies Corp., Vernon Hills, Ill. The printers are designed for smaller volume applications that require personalization of plastic cards. Features include a 32-bit processor,

2 megabytes of standard memory, 1 megabyte of Flash memory, and a self-cleaning card handling mechanism. The series includes two models: the P205, a monochrome printer that can print a card in 4 seconds, and the P210, which prints single-side, full-color cards with edge-to-edge printing in just under 30 seconds. Both offer 300 dpi print resolution. The printers take up 9.4 inches by 6.7 inches and can be used on countertops and desktops. Applications for the P200 series include personalized customer loyalty cards, ID cards, employee and visitor badges, club membership cards and gift certificate cards.
