Wal-Mart-bashing Flick To Premiere Tonight
BUENA PARK, Park, Calif. -- WakeUpWalMart.com, a labor union-affiliated group that is among the most vocal critics of the world's largest retailer, this evening will host the first local screening of the film, "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price" here.
The film's premiere, one of 3,000 screenings across the country this week, is part of a grassroots effort to build public pressure on Wal-Mart to change into what WakeUpWalMart.com leaders refer to as "a responsible corporation."
"This movie puts the human face on Wal-Mart's negative impact by telling the personal stories of how Wal-Mart is hurting America," said Greg M. Conger, president of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 324, which will host the local event. "We are premiering a movement, not just a movie."
