Stater Bros. to Open 161st Full-Service Supermarket, in Fontana, Calif

COLTON, CALIF.-- Stater Bros. will open its latest full-service supermarket at the Falcon Ridge Town Center in Fontana, Calif. tomorrow.

Stater Bros. will also open four other full-service supermarkets this year, in Adelanto, Apple Valley, French Valley (between Hemet and Temecula), and a fifth Fontana location at 11225 Sierra Avenue. The opening of the Falcon Ridge location brings Stater Bros. number of supermarkets in San Bernardino County to 48, making it the county's No. 1 supermarket chain.

The 44,000-square-foot Falcon Ridge Store includes the following features:

--A meat department with butchers to serve customers and provide preparation tips;

--A fresh seafood department;

--A hot service deli offering a complete selection of salads; premium deli meats; a wide variety of domestic and imported cheeses; sandwiches to go, including the new "Sandwich Classics" using La Brea fine rolls; party trays; quick and easy hot lunches and dinners; and Golden Fried Chicken;

--A hot bakery featuring daily fresh baked artisan breads, cookies, rolls, elegant desserts, and custom-made cakes for all occasions, including picture cakes;

--An expanded produce department with more than 700 items;

--A floral department offering fresh-cut flower bouquets, silk arrangements, potted plants, and balloons;

--A Super Rx Pharmacy; and

--Energy-efficient skylights to incorporate the use of day lighting and help the environment.

Stater Bros. is the largest privately owned supermarket chain in Southern California, with annual sales of $3.7 billion last year. As of April 20 the company will operate 161 supermarkets.
