Giant Eagle to Convert Five Shell Stations to GetGos

PITTSBURGH - Giant Eagle, which operates more than 200 independent and corporate-owned retail supermarkets in the Midwest, has converted five former Shell gasoline service stations to GetGo stations, allowing supermarket shoppers near those stations to receive discounts on their fuel purchases, according to local press reports.
Three of the stations will be converted to the GetGo brand by Dec. 13, while the remaining two will be changed "once we have received all the necessary zoning approvals," said Daniel Pastor, Giant Eagle v.p. of fuels and convenience.
SFM Energy Inc. received in excess of $1 million for the stations, according to deeds filed in both Allegheny and Butler counties. The five stations will bring the number of GetGo locations to 72, with 40 in Western Pennsylvania. Additional acquisitions are planned throughout Pennsylvania and Ohio.
All sites are expected to include a convenience store. A 10-cents-per-gallon discount is offered to customers with sales tapes from the participating Giant Eagle that has $50 or more in sales. There is a 30-gallon limit per car.
