The workshops will be held june 27, the day before the official opening of the show on Thursday. Registration for the workshops is limited to 75 people. Workshop I will be held from 9 a. m. to 5 p. m. in the Los Angeles Room of the Hilton Hotel (the official headquarters hotel) and will be on problem fermentations. The workshop was organized by Prof. Linda F. Bisson of the U.C., Davis department of Viticulture and Enology. Other participants include Profs. Ralph E. Kunkee and Roger Boulton of Davis and Prof. Thomas Henick-Kling of Cornell.
Workshops 11 on Vine Water Use will run concurrently in the Garden West Room of the Hilton. It will be coordinated by Dr. Daniel Roberts of Sterling Vineyards. Other participants include Tucker Catlin, Sterling Vineyards; Profs. Mark Matthews, Michael Mullins and Richard Snyder, U.C. Davis; Jim Frisinger, Beringer Vineyards; Daniel Bosch, Robert Mondavi Winery; Dr. Larry Williams, Kearney Agricultural Station; Dr. Larry Swancki, Extension Irrigation Specialist, U.C., Davis; Dr. Terry Pritchard, Extension Soils and Waters Specialist and Craig Williams, Joseph Phelps Winery.
There will also be a forum on Phylloxera and Rootstocks Friday at 9 a.m., moderated by Ed Weber, U.C. Viticulture Farm Advisor for Napa County.
The Champagne Reception and awards banquet honoring Robert Mondavi, this year's winner of the ASEV merit award and a former Wine Industry Technical Symposium man of the year, will be Saturday night at the Hilton hotel. A dance will follow with music provided by [H sub.2].
The James F. Guymon lecturer this year is Edward A. Crowell and the Honorary Research Lecturer is Dr. Harold Olmo.
There will be a golf and tennis tournament on Wednesday.
