Seattle's Best Rolls Out Debit Card

Taking a page out of Starbucks' strategy, Seattle's Best Coffee is introducing "Seattle's Best Card," a stored value card used as currency, beginning today.

The card is being offered at company-owned Seattle's Best cafes in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles,

Portland, and Seattle, and via the Web. Franchised units get the card later this spring.

The Seattle's Best Card can be loaded with any amount from $3 to $500, closely mimicking Starbucks' policy.

"The Seattle's Best Card will be a great convenience for our loyal guests," said Steve Schickler, president of Seattle Coffee Company, parent company of Seattle's Best. "This advance in technology speeds up transactions, and eliminates the need for customers to have cash on hand each time they frequent the cafe."
