Dick Macedonia, coo of
Sodexho USA since last June, has added the title of president. His appointment follows the rise of
Michel Landel from pres. and ceo of Sodexho USA to co-coo of Sodexho Alliance, along with
Jean-Michel Dhenain; Landel retains his title as ceo of Sodexho
USA.
Macedonia began his foodservice career in 1968 as campus unit manager for Saga and joined Marriott's healthcare services division in 1975. He became president of healthcare in late 2000.
Guest Services, based in Fairfax, VA, has renovated the foodcourt it operates at the U.S. State Dept.'s headquarters in Washington. It now features four "lite fare" options—Quenchers, Baker Street Malibu Wraps, Salad Garden and Caesar's Corner—plus numerous concepts from the contractor's Choice Cuisine portfolio, including Stacker's Deli, American Smokehouse, Crystal Bay Grill and Mediterranean Terrace; there's also Noble Roman's Pizza, a QSR. New menu items available to State Dept. employees and visitors include oyster Rockefeller, clams Casino, Greek salads, stromboli and brick-oven pizza.
Louisville Zoological Gardens in Louisville, KY, signed Sodexho to a five-year foodservice management contract worth $8 million in managed volume. The contract covers all foodservice, concessions and catering; the 33-year-old zoo hosts about 800,000 visitors annually. Foodservice facilities include: Big Bird Snack Shack, African Outpost, Outback Oasis, Islands Cafe, Bamboo Beverage Comany and Bomassa Soft Serve.
HMS Host has won a three-year contract to run concessions at
Detroit Metropolitan Airport's L.C. Smith and Berry Terminals. The deal is expected to generate $40 million in sales; in it, HMS Host will partner with
ASG, a local service provider, to oeprate Rivals Sports Bar, Starbucks Coffee, Quizno's and B.B. King Blue's Bar.
