Visteon announces Bluetooth Interface Module

Visteon Corp., Dearborn, Mich., introduced a new product that combines industry-leading Visteon Voice Technology with Bluetooth. The application combines the two technologies allowing drivers to use mobile phones hands-free.

The technology can also be applied to accessing

information on other electronics devices, such as PDAs and laptops. According to Visteon, the Bluetooth Interface Module offers support of high-speed vehicle networks, active echo cancellation and noise reduction as well as the flexibility of either an internal or external Bluetooth antenna.

The system is activated with Visteon's voice-activated, speaker-independent automotive control feature that recognizes six different languages and regional accents while ignoring surrounding sounds. Visteon's system is designed to work with all Bluetooth-enabled handsets and will be available before the end of 2002.
