Like many other popular trends, yoga's once religious following became mainstream after celebrities began touting the benefits of low-impact exercise and sporting comfortable, loose-fitting yoga apparel. The yoga industry has expanded like a long-held healing breath since the days of unembellished mats and T-shirts.
In a 2005 study by the Harris Interactive Service Bureau (HISB) published in Yoga Journal (www.yogajournal.com ), a poll surveying 4,700 people showed that the number of people age 18 to 24 who practice yoga has increased by 46% in one year.
